Businesses are independently accessed by a tourism expert and awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold award depending on their performance against the Sustainable Tourism Business criterion.

Qualmark COVID Clean Approved
The COVID Clean Approved self-assessment tool has been developed by Qualmark exclusively for its licence holders. The assessment offers information and checklists compiled by Qualmark, derived from the New Zealand Government’s COVID-19 guidelines, to help businesses adhere to these protocols.
By completing the COVID Clean Approved assessment, operators can demonstrate to visitors and staff that they have an awareness of COVID-19 government guidelines. Additionally, COVID Clean Approved is formally recognised by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).
AdventureMark Safety Audit Certified
Taupo Kayaking Adventures have been audited and certified by AdventureMark™, a JAS-ANZ accredited and WorkSafe NZ approved Certification Body under the New Zealand Adventure Activities Certification Scheme.
This certification demonstrates that Taupo Kayaking Adventures’ Safety Management System complies with the Safety Audit Standard for Adventure Activities. Certification enables us to be registered by WorkSafe NZ as an authorised adventure activity operator.

Taupo Kayaking Adventures is certified by WorkSafe New Zealand (WorkSafe), the work health and safety regulator designated to carry out health and safety regulatory functions for New Zealand businesses.
This means that Taupo Kayaking Adventures has been approved and recognised to have a sound and robust health and safety plan and operations in place, ensuring that our customers and staff are kept safe at all times.
Maritime New Zealand Certified via SGS
Taupo Kayaking Adventures have been audited and certified by SSG, who are Maritime New Zealand accredited and NZ approved Certification Body under the New Zealand Maritime Rules for our motorized kayaks
This means we hold a Certificate of Fitness for all our motorized kayaks. Issued under the provisions of section 41 of Maritime Transport Act 1994 in accordance with Rules 40G.6 of the Maritime Rules.
This means that Taupo Kayaking Adventures has been approved and recognised to have high equipment standards and are in good working order and function well. Have good safety operation plans (including health and safety) in place, ensuring that our customers and staff are kept safe at all times.
Department of Conservation (DOC) Concession Holder
Taupo Kayaking Adventures is a concession holder approved by the Department of Conservation (DOC), a government agency charged with conserving New Zealand’s natural and historic heritage.
Being a DOC concession holder means that DOC has approved us to run our activities within conservation land as DOC has recognised us as an environmentally conscious company that abides with all conservation and sustainable practices. We care about the land and environment we operate in and go to great lengths to preserve its natural beauty and sustainability of the land.
