Half Day – Mine Bay Rock Carvings Tour
Beginning in the sheltered waters of Acacia Bay, come out with us and explore the secluded Rock Carvings at Mine Bay. Paddle below native bush, past steep cliffs and mini inlets that kayaks can only harbor into before the striking carvings come into view. On our return, we stop at a beach or harbor into the flat rocks at Whakamoenga Point for delicious muffins & refreshments, where you can take the opportunity to do some rock jumping or go for a swim in the crystal clear waters of our beautiful lake. Otherwise, relax and listen to the sounds of native birds, while taking in the magnificent sight of the Tongariro National Park’s 3 volcanic mountains across the southern side of the lake.

Waikato River Float
Gently paddle through the un-spoilt beauty of the Waikato River, through the pumice gorge with crystal-clear slow-moving water. Be amazed by the stunning cliff faces and lush native forests. We begin our journey just minutes from Taupo Town Centre and finish at Reid’s farm, which is located about 1.8 kilometers from the Huka Falls.
Whilst paddling we will pass various islands and swimming spots and drift past the bungy platform (let’s hope someone’s jumping). Along the way we may stop for a rock jump into the river, then onto natural hot springs where you can take the opportunity to soak in the beautiful mineral water. At the end of this trip, we will stop for a muffin and a hot drink, before we embark on our small drive back to the start of the trip.

Our base is directly across the road from the lake in Acacia Bay, so you’ll experience no transporting issues.
- We are the closest kayak hirer (location) for people to kayak around to see the Maori Rock Carvings in Mine Bay. The next hire facility is in Taupo township which will add another 2-3 plus hours to your trip time.
- At the beach located across from our base – there are toilet and BBQ facilities. A great location for the family to have a fun day at the lake.
Over summer months you are able to pre-book kayaks (payment will be required on reservation). We only reserve kayak hire bookings between 9.00am – 10.00am. After 10.00am we run on a first in first serve basis.
